The West Midlands Powerchair Regional League (WMPRL) is a grassroots league for the sport of Powerchair Football. The sport has been established since 2005, with The National Governing Body The Wheelchair Football Association overseeing the sport since 2005. The WFA oversee the National League and Cup competitions and the organisation then includes 6 regional leagues around the country, of which the WMPRL is one of them and is run separately by a committee of volunteers. The WMPRL is a registered charity in its own right and so the committee members are appointed trustees of the charity.
The WMPRL in its current form was established in 2014 having previously been run as the Birmingham Ability Counts League. WMPRL has done nothing but grow and develop, with this current season seeing over 100 players grace the league within 19 teams. This figure has more than doubled in five years since we started with one division, five teams and around 30 players.
